Dawid Marko is Teaching and Research Assistant at the Department of Criminal Procedure and Criminalistics of the University of Gdańsk (Poland), where he is currently preparing his PhD thesis devoted to procedural aspects of the direct effect of EU directives in the criminal process. As his scientific publications show, his main fields of research include criminal procedural law (especially model issues and problems related to the rights of the individual), European criminal law (especially approximation of criminal procedural law and mutual legal assistance in criminal matters) and criminal procedural law in the framework of human rights law.
He received a scholarship from the Max Planck Society and was a doctoral fellow at the Max Planck Institute for the Study of Crime, Security and Law in Freiburg im Breisgau (Germany). He has been involved in several international research projects and has conducted some stays abroad (including in Germany, Spain and the Czech Republic). He also has experience in law practice (he works as an attorney).
